Scribe pounded out an entire bunch of 3 inch Dunnys depicting life in contemporary Hawai'i, some of which are based on traditions. A favorite past time is fishing (lawai'a) here in Hawai'i. There are many different styles of fishing in Hawai'i, including throw net (ho'olei 'upena), fish traps (nina's). Pole fishing in Hawai'i traces its origins by the Chinese who introduced bamboo pole fishing. Though many fishing have been replaced by carbon fiber and/or metal due to its durability, you'll still see many of Hawai'i's locals fishing with long and thin bamboo poles. This fisherman, in his aloha print board shorts is painted head to toe by Scribe, and it looks like he didn't catch the fish he had in mind.
